There have been many werewolf movies made over the years and several Wolfman movies too. Besides the latest movie starring Benicio del Toro. there has been Wolfman movies dating back to the 1920′s. It was a silent movie made in 1924 and starred Norma Shearer, John Gilbert, and Eugene Pallette.
Next there was “The Wolf Man”, made in 1941 and starred Lon Chaney, Claude Rains and Evelyn Ankers. The newest 2010 movie is a remake of this one.
Werewolf movies have been around since 1913 and are still popular today. In fact werewolves themselves, (or the myth of werewolves if you don’t believe) have been around for thousands of years. There has been some form of the werewolf in almost every age and culture.
Why do we have such a fascination with werewolves? Is it some ancient fear we have ingrained in our psyche that we may somehow transform into a wild savage beast? Or worse, that we may be preyed upon by one of these creatures? Who knows.
But I do think it’s fun to occasionally dress up, pretend to be something we are not, and let off some steam of our day to day drudgery. Halloween provides a perfect excuse to do this. Look into becoming the ultimate werewolf this Halloween and get a Wolfman Costume for yourself or your child.
