I’ve found that in general most guys don’t like to dress up in a costume for Halloween. I don’t know why, when they are little boys they love dressing up as their favorites Super Here, Move Character or sports person. As they get older they seem to get away from the good old fun of dressing up in a costume. So, for you guys out there I have a couple of simple costume ideas for you to get off the couch and have some fun this year.
Have you seen the movie Shrek? What could be more simple that dressing up in an Gingerbread Man Halloween Costume? You go out and buy a one piece outfit from http://www.gingerbreadmancostume.net/ put it on and your are done. Plus if you are lucky, maybe your girlfriend will dress up in a Sexy Fiona costume and you can go as a couple!
Don’t like the Avatar Costume idea? How about dressing up in a Woody Costume from the Toystory Movie? This is an easy one, plus most guys like to act like cowboys. You can get some light colored blue jeans, a yellow shirt, badge and a tan cowboy hat. Simple, no make-up, topical and cheap. What more is the average guy going to want?
If your guy doesn’t like to dress up for Halloween and doesn’t like the above ideas, make him disappear for Halloween!
Ladies, who doesn’t want to be the Belle of the Ball? However, your typical Belle or Princess Costume is usually BORING. You know the drill, long silky dress that covers everything, boring wig and acting like a frumpy ole woman. Well that is not for me this year! I’ve lot a bunch of weight and I want to show off my new body to everyone. I haven’t looked this good in years so I want to be the HOT Belle of the Party and have a lot of fun this year. I found the best costume, it looks sort of like Belle from Beauty and the Beast but with a real twist.
It is for adults only and comes in a satiny yellow color that is a halter type dress. It laces up the frong and has a fitted bodice and short ruffles. It hits me about mid thigh. I’m getting the really long white stocking and have a gold pair of stiletto shoes to wear. I’m also going to wear a lot of dangly jewelery on my arms and wear my hair in an up-do! For those that are more conservative they do make long boring gowns as well. Why bother when you an have a lot more fun in the short dress and high heels?
My neighbor is wanting to go as a Na’Vi Warrior for Halloween. The Na’Vi are the innocent blue people from the Avatar Movies. What great casting! The Na’Vi are from Pandora and have four fingers and four toes. For the most part they have really dark brown or black hair. Matching the hair is easiest because you can get a long straight black wig and make one long braid down your back or several medium braids if you have the time. My neighbor is lean and tall so she is perfect for this costume. The one area she is having a problem is the blue make up.
I found a great website that has a video and even sells the officially license make up from Avatar. A really creative person can come up with their own blue make up but there is a great video that shows you how to apply the make-up to look like a real Na’Vi Warrior! It is not that easy, if you remember the Na’Vi have stripes on their faces and even on their bodies. They also have some type of beads or glitter stuff on their faces. You have to be able to put on the stripes to look just right in a darker color and then also wear the blue color cream as well. It will likely take 45 minutes just to do your face if you want it to look good.
That is too much work for me. I’m going as Jessie from Toy Story, easy costume that you can buy or make yourself. To be a good Jessie you have to purchase the red hat, which is easy to buy and wear!
I know there is a recession going on but one thing I will not cut out of my budget are things for my dog. I know she is just a mutt, kind of a Collie and Lab mix but she is a part of the family and that is that. I’ve been working with her to learn how to walk in a crowd while on a leash in anticipation of Halloween this year. Not only is my dog going trick-or-treating she is going to have a costume as well. I talked to my vet and he didn’t like the idea because candy is not good for dogs so I’m only going to go to people homes that have dogs so they can give her dog treat! My vet also suggested not getting a costume that is tight or one that covers her head and ears. I’m fine with that, I don’t want to freak her out!
I’ve been on line and found some really great costumes like Shrek Costumes for me, since I’m kind of fat. But finding a decent costume for my dog that is fun and will make the vet happy was kind of tough. I finally found a great Superman Costume for my dog. It is a simple costume with a red cape and has a big red S on the chest. Nothing will cover her ears or head. It is quite cute and I’m working with her so she will be used to wearing it.
So, if you are a dog owner, look out. WE will be trick-or-treating soon and expect dog treats!
Who didn’t dress up like a ghost when they were a kid or toddler? You know the drill, talk your mom into letting you use an old sheet, cutting out eyes and maybe a nose and mouth hole, pulling it over your head and off for a big night of trick or treating! It was fun, you and all the other kids dressed in sheets, it did score a lot of candy! Well, now that we are older our taste for costumes have gotten quite a bit more sophisticated.
For example, my wife wanted to go as a ghost and wanted something more feminine than a bed sheet. We found a a Lady Ghost Costume online that was feminine and looked like a lady like ghost, perfect. Personally, I’m a bit overweight and don’t like to shop for costumes. I was surprised to find that a “Jason Like Ghost Costume” in a Plus Size that was fun and fit very well.
The power of online shopping never ceases to amaze me. I can find just about everything I need, including costumes, and never leave the house. Maybe that is why I’m a Plus Sized Person!
With the release of three Pirates of the Carribean Movies, Captain Jack Sparrow has revived the Pirate as a favorite halloween costume. Does anyone really know why pirates and people dressed like pirates wear eye patches??? One theory that makes a lot of sense is that pirates (or sailors) liked to keep one eye adjusted to the darkness below deck as the didn’t have much in the way lighting. It is thought that if a sailor was in a hurry or fight that he could easily remove the patch when the fight went below and have an advantage over his opponent in a close combat fight. It seems that they might have even changed eyes that the patch was on as they went from deck to deck and this was considered a time saver instead of waiting for eyes to adjust to the darkness. Is this theory real??? Nobody really knows for sure. There is not much information in any historical records to confirm or deny why pirates used the eye patch.
It doesn’t make a lot of difference, everyone knows you have to have a patch to look like a real pirate for hallloween!
Timeless, scary, well known, fun and never goes out of style. How else do you describe the phenomenon of everyone at some point in their life wanting to dress in Vampire Costumes, Vampiress, Sexy Vampire, Dracula, or even a Kids Dracula for Halloween? One thing that stays constant is that if you are going to be a “male dracula” you need a silk looking cape, dark hare, white shirt and blood. If you are a female vampire you will usually wear some type of black silky outfit, long or short, black hair, pointy teeth and black heels! It is fun to trick ore treat.
Even though everyone has heard of Dracula or Vampires, most of us don’t know the actual origins of the storey. The story was first published in 1897 by Brian Stoker. It was called Dracula, and featured Count Dracula as the main character.
The Vampires is closely associated with Dracula. Did you know that a vampires is a person who will NOT die? The corpse rises from their graves during the night and live by sucking the blood out of living human beings. Of course they MUST be back in their grave before the first ray of sunshine appears or they will die.
Of course Vampires are supposed to be afraid of garlic and crosses. The best way to kill them is to drive a stake through their heart and the stake must be made of ash or aspen wood. The trick here is that the stake must be put through the heart during the day. Must be another myth.
