I had a few Barbies I played with when I was child, but I was never really that into her and her friends. They were fun on occasion, but I didn’t get into them like a few of my other friends. This was possibly because I was a tomboy, and was more interested in playing outside, building forts, and riding my bicycle. I was actually surprised that my daughter, who shows lots of the same interests that I had when I was young, asked me if she could get a Barbie Costume.
She had been learning to like to dance by watching the Wiggles. They had a song in their concerts that featured ballet, and she loved this. She watched a DVD at a friend’s house that featured Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses and was enchanted with what she saw. She asked for the dance mat for Christmas, and I thought it was more about the dancing than Barbie, but I’m not really certain any more. One time in the store we saw a Barbie costume that must be from the Dancing Princesses, and because it has been on sale, I got it for her.
