While everyone is busy dressing up in their Halloween outfits why not be different and dress up in a really cool Disco Fashion costume. If you’ve been invited to a disco night there are plenty of different costumes and styles to choose. For the guys there are the classic disco pants, very fitted at the top and flared at the bottom, then there are those way over the top shirts with their silky look or covered in brightly covered flowers or ‘snake skin’ patterns and of course no one could ever forget those white shoes with extremely high heels. Remember Elton John playing the piano on the Pinball Wizard track in the film Tommy and those massive high heel shoes he wore in that.
Disco Fashion Dress for the gals includes a huge choice of mini skirts, a throw back from the late sixties, but with the addition of bright colors with floral patterns, or sequin numbers with boat loads of glitter, continued throughout most of the seventies. If you are not so keen at the idea of showing off your legs then there are outfits that feature bell bottom pants together with matching bell sleeve tops and, similar to the guys, featuring highly patterned and colored materials. Regarding footwear, those massive high heel boots, some of which went right up to just below the knee, again in wacky colors really make you stand out among the crowd. Boogie on down!
During Halloween, and winter months, while fairies, witches and sorcerers go around casting their spells, good or bad, and zombies turn their victims into one of them, someone or something has to go around clearing up all the mess. Enter the Grim Reaper, dressed from head to toe in black and the scythe always close by, who is always there to ‘take care’ of those who are about to take their last breath.
So if you are considering a new Halloween costume, but would like something a bit different from the usual witch, vampire or fairy outfits, then a grim reaper costume might just fit the bill. There are also many types of costumes available from Grim Reaper, Death Reaper, Angel of Death for both Kids and Adults both male and female, so no one is left out of the “fun”. Pretty scary to find someone dressed as the Reaper just ‘floating’ into the room, scythe in one hand and an hour glass in the other.
One of the most classic films of fairytale and magic to have ever been released was the Wizard of Oz, and considering it came out in 1939 it must have been quite a technical breakthrough for its time. What with the elaborate stage sets and backdrops and of course the beautiful costumes which must have taken weeks of planning and designing to put it all together and make it work seamlessly. Apart from the main character Dorothy, one of the characters that stands out the most is Glinda the Good Witch of the North with her long golden hair, beautiful pink satin looking dress and the silver crown, not to forget her magic wand, and how she first appeared, traveling in a bubble to meet Dorothy for the first time. As a character and a Good Witch she has achieved that “evergreen” status, in other words, even after all this time people still want to dress up in a Glinda costume during Halloween and the festive period. Long may she continue.
